Aaron Mboma, MSc
Zoologist
I am an early-career zoologist from Malawi, Africa with a Master's degree in Zoology. My research interests encompass entomology, biodiversity, systematics, and evolutionary genetics. I presently serve as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Livingstonia where I prepare and teach undergraduate biology courses as well as supervise dissertation projects. I equally serve as a biology consultant at 808 Computing. My main tasks include designing and carrying out biodiversity assessments for environmental impact assessments.
My skill set includes ecological sampling and biodiversity assessments, dissection of insect genitalia, and preparation of wing vein microscope slides. I am substantially proficient in building phylogenetic trees using MEGA, data visualization and analysis using Base R, technical writing, as well as lecturing.
Research Focus
My research focuses on the morphological characterization of butterflies, emphasizing their classification, evolution, and diversity. Through extensive fieldwork, laboratory analysis, and the study of wing venation patterns alongside both male and female genitalia, I explore their taxonomy and biodiversity.
